Description
The 2024 FLY II represents an evolutionary leap from the original model, featuring new materials, even more advanced 3D flight shapes and a host of improvements aimed at higher performance and a better user experience.
While retaining the unique concept of high lift coefficient, it has an even stiffer shape and a new twist profile that significantly improves handling and control in strong winds. The tension distribution of the canopy, originally derived from windsurfing sail design, has been fine-tuned to improve upwind speed and handling during upwind maneuvers. The dihedral front profile has been reshaped to increase stability when reeving, which is particularly beneficial for riders with a harness. Additional Leading Edge (LE) segments on the wingtips not only reduce drag, but also provide additional stiffness, allowing the wing to point higher. The vented strut has been updated with additional stiffening at the Leading Edge (LE) in the center, increasing stability in the area in front of the filler panel and making the wing much more forgiving on tacks.
The FLY II is now made entirely of Teijin LE Dacron, which significantly improves its dimensional stability. The trailing edges in front of the frame are made of Challenge Code 95 for exceptional stiffness and long-lasting dimensional stability. The rear windows are now made of Dyneema X-ply for an optimal balance between visibility, light weight and structural integrity, while the front windows are made of clear PVC. The windows have been redesigned and repositioned to improve visibility.
The wide range of size options between 4.0 and 6.0 is unique to the Fly II. Compared to the previous model, we have simplified the sizing between 1.8 and 3.5 to make the selection process easier.
